We exist to help EVERYONE, no matter where they’re at on the spiritual spectrum (religious, irreligious, seeker, cynic, church veteran or church rookie), to take next steps on their spiritual journey with God, whatever that next step may be. And what’s the destination of that journey? Living the life that is truly life… a life found in knowing and becoming like Jesus Christ.
But what does it meant to be like Jesus? Are we talking about being homeless, growing a beard and wearing Birkenstocks everywhere you go? Not quite. God doesn’t much care about the outward appearance anyway. The heart is what matters most, and to be like Jesus means to live with a heart like his: a heart for compassion, mercy, justice and truth. A heart for knowing God in an intimate way. A heart that’s bent towards serving rather than being served. A heart that’s free from the burden and pain of guilt, anger, greed and envy. A heart for wanting to count for something beyond itself. This is the heartbeat of Jesus.
God invites everyone to come on this journey of knowing and becoming like his son, and therefore so do we. We don’t care who you voted for in the last election, how you dress or where you grew up. And please don’t worry if you’ve never been to church before or it’s been a really long time since you’ve been to one – trust us, you’ll fit right in. And if you’ve already committed your life to following Jesus, we want to challenge and equip you to go even further and deeper in your journey with Him. One of the awesome things about God is that He takes each of us “as is,” and from there He helps us grow together to become all that He intends for us to be.
The bottom line is this – at I-90 we’re not about religion, we’re about Jesus. And no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve been through, there is hope, healing and new life to be found in knowing and becoming like Jesus Christ. This is why we do what we do.
